At March 17 sitting, the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs debated the report of the Ministry of Health on Procedure and Results of the Implementation of the RA Government Programme for 2020.

Minister Anahit Avanesyan noted that last year had been full of challenges and most serious problems for the Ministry.

From March 1 of the previous year 29 re-equipped medical institution of the republic had been involved in the treatment of the citizens infected by the coronavirus disease. 380 beds were operated only in the reanimation departments. The patients’ treatment was carried out through state budget and donor organizations. During the year the tests increased day by day. If in March of the last year 50-60 tests had been done daily, then today that number reached about 5000. In 2020, 595.876 tests were done, 159.738 cases were registered, 143.355 people were recovered, and 2028 – died. It was noted as a consequence of coronavirus, the mortality was 1.77%. Today, there is growth of disease. At this moment 11 medical institutions are engaged with the treatment of the patients with coronavirus. The beds are still enough, but it is necessary to strictly keep the anti-epidemiological rules,” the Minister noted.

Anahit Avanesyan informed that about 3000 health workers were engaged with the medical service works for the victims and wounded because of war. A big volume of medical equipment and medicine were allocated to the medical institutions of Armenia and Artsakh.

During the last year 12 programmes and 61 events were implemented, spending 139bln 808mln drams, and the executive sheet was 98.3%.

The Minister gave good news: compared with 2019 the births increased for more than 200 in the republic in 2020.
